The annual Black-Necked Crane festival is celebrated at the courtyard of Gangtey Goenpa in Phobjikha valley. The festival is an occasion for the locals to rejoice and celebrate the arrival of this endangered and majestic bird which becomes an inseparable part in their daily lives during the winter months. The annual black necked crane festival is organized to generate awareness and understanding on the importance of conserving the endangered Black-Necked Cranes. The festival includes cultural programs such as folk songs and dances (some with black-necked crane themes) and mask dances performed by the local people, crane dances and environmental conservation-themed dramas and songs by school children.
DAY 1: ARRIVE PARO AND DRIVE TO THIMPHU VALLEY Upon arrival at Paro International Airport you will be welcomed by our representative. Explore the beautiful Thimphu valley. Observe the fascinating odd looking animal Takin, Bhutan’s National Animal. Interact with the cheerful nuns at the Zilukha Nunnery. Take a chance to make your own traditional paper at Jungshi Paper Factory. Walk inside the beautiful courtyard of Tashichho Dzong, the seat of the government since 1952 and presently houses the throne room and offices of the king. Leisure in Town. DAY 2: PUNAKHA VALLEY Marvel at the huge Buddha Dordenma, filled with over one hundred thousand smaller Buddha statues. Explore Punakha, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Journey to Punakha valley, takes you into some of Bhutan’s most spectacular scenery, from high mountains passes to tiered fields and along the river banks of Pho Chu and Mo Chu. Stop at Dochula Pass to capture a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain ranges. Enter the courtyard of Pungthang Dewachen Phodrang – Palace of Great Happiness, the beautiful fortress is the winter residence of Bhutan’s Central Monastic Body. DAY 3: PUNAKHA AND PHOBJIKHA VALLEY Hike towards Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten sitting majestically on the ridge above Punakha Valley. Discover the temple of the ‘Divine Madman’ at Chimi Lhakhang. Lunch at Hotel Lobesa and drive towards marvelous and majestic landscape of Phobjikha Valley where Black Necked Crane is witnessed in seasons. Walk through the valley enjoying fresh air and mind blowing views. DAY 4: BLACK NECKED CRANE FESTIVAL Witness the festival’s masked dances performed by monks clad in colorful brocade attire and permeated by chants and reading of Buddhist scripts at Paro Dzong. Followed by traditional cultural dances entertaining public. Capture the beautiful moments of Paro Tshechu. Leisure in Paro Town. DAY 5: PHOBJIKHA TO PARO VALLEY Drive towards Paro Valley, it is one of the picturesque region and a widest valley in the Kingdom, covered with fertile rice fields and beautiful crystal line river meandering down the valley. Explore nearby ruins as well as some of the valley’s oldest and holiest religious monuments. Paro Valley is known for its tranquillity and peace. DAY 6: TIGER’S NEST HIKE Hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest and marvel at the beauty of the landmark and religious site. Captivate the stunning Tiger’s Nest, one of the most holy sites in Bhutan which clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the Paro Valley. Experience the Pure Bhutanese dishes added in your dinner menu. DAY 7: FLY TO YOUR NEXT DESTINATION You will be chauffeured to Paro International Airport by our representatives for your next destination and wishing you to see you again in the Land of Happiness.

Located below the main town, near the Wang Chhu River, Thimphu’s weekend market is by far the largest domestic market for the farmers in Bhutan. Farmers come from all over the country to sell their farm products in the market. With its wide assortment of fresh and organic produce, the Farmer’s Market has become a favourite spot for tourists and a recreational place for people from all walks of life. Across a cantilever footbridge, Kuendeyling Bazaam, to the west bank is a collection of stalls selling clothing, textiles and handicrafts.
From the dusk till the dawn, farmers works with dedication in his farm land filled with arrays of vegetable varieties. In Bhutan main source of income for farmers are from field produce like potato, cardamom, orange, apple and green vegetables ready to market. Farmer has to survive with whatever is grown from his land. And today, he has bright face since government has been supporting our farmers in various ways.
Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, occupies a valley in the country’s western interior. In addition to being the government seat, the city is known for its Buddhist sites. The massive Tashichho Dzong is a fortified monastery and government palace with gold-leaf roofs.
